Background: The research on gait related to barefoot running for different populations shows the diversity of footing behavior: some people tend to have their heel first, others prefer midfoot or forefoot first. This article focuses on the footwork and joint perspectives of the traditional Sahara hunters in northern Tanzania. Methods: High-speed digital video recorders were used to record the manner in which 26 adults and 14 adolescents from the Haza ethnic group ran their feet on an outdoor course at a specific speed (3.4 ± 0.7 m / s for adults and 3.2 ± 0.5 m / s for adolescents) Heel, midfoot and forefoot) and lower limb angle. Results: Haz ethnic men tended to use the midfoot (86.7%), while Haza women and adolescents tended to use the heel (90.9% of women and 85.7% of adolescents). No record of the forefoot was found. Running speed, wearing shoes or not (sandals or bare feet), the duration of the test had no effect on the foot of the subject. Conclusion: Compared to other people who use their forefoot to hold their hands, Haza ethnic men tend to use the mid-foot to the ground while women and adolescents tend to use the heel to the heel. The gender and age differences in the behavior of the Hazara hunters may reflect differences in running experience, and men tend to center in the foot because they have accumulated more running experience.
