《吕氏春秋》一书的根本宗旨是一个“治”字。它全面吸收前人的社会治理思想 ,融汇贯通诸子百家的观点 ,形成了关于治国平天下的三个“理论群”。其一是治理总纲 ,主张“治天下之要 ,存乎除奸 ;除奸之要 ,存乎治官 ;治官之要 ,存乎治道” ,要治理者不纵欲、不妄作 ,顺应天地自然无为、公而无私之道 ,建立起稳定恒久的治理秩序。其二、其三分别是“治人”和“治物”理论 ,主张“治人先于治物 ,治物本于治人” ,无论管理士、农、工、商 ,千行百业 ,必先建立起对人管理的有效网络 ,进而再把“治物”目标纳入“治人”的网络中去。这些思想今天仍有明显的借鉴作用
