吉林市林业科学研究所,于1984年开始,在吉林市松花湖建立了红松基因库。红松,是我国珍贵的用材树种,虽已被我省列为二类保护植物,但在大量采伐、利用森林的今天,大量优良的基因和类型在逐渐被消灭。为了保存物种,保存优良基因,建立红松基因库,收集保存不同类型和优良基因,是迫切而又具有战略意义的大事,它对红松这一树种的保护利用和发展以及开发红松良种选育都是一项不可缺少的工作,对生产和科研都具有重要意义。
