Based on Gregory Bateson’s theory of the unity of mind and nature, this paper explores how eco-linguistics shifts the research focus from focusing on the text to the two-way relationship between human beings and the biological world, that is, Language, individual initiative and collective initiative deep concern. In the history of human life, human beings change the world through social control modes and personal survival skills. Therefore, humankind is both a collective agent and a life subject in the field of biological ecology. To explore the two-way relationship between humans and other organisms, we must first clarify the limitations of scientific understanding. Therefore, eco-linguistics should shoulder the new mission: first, to criticize the thinking mode of separating human from other organisms, and secondly to enhance the influence of bio-ecology. This requires the development of a biological thinking, aware of the development of human life and energy, value and the individual’s collective behavior is closely related to the three ways. Critical discourse analysis can also complement the study of coexistence of biological ecology. Eco-linguistics can be combined with scientists and other researchers to attach importance to the human responsibility for the Earth’s life body, which is in line with the “harmony between man and nature” in Chinese traditional philosophy.
