INTRODUCTION The author has published in this issue of “Plasticity and Processing” (1975,16, No179, P.1156), published on various steel warm forging can play a good performance lubricant, namely Na_2B_4O_7 + 10% Bi_2O_3 , Na) 2B_4O_7 + 10% PbO article. This lubricant reacts chemically with the steel surface to form a solid lubricant film. In fact, we know that Bi2O3 or PbO and stainless steel will produce intense oxidation reaction. The authors hope that the effective lubricant for temperature forging of steel is to react chemically with the steel surface. Zagar has pointed out that high temperature forging lubricants used in steel should be neither completely liquid nor solid, but have the proper viscosity at service temperature.
