We performed a computer simulation study to evaluate of feedback control method proposed for functional electrical stimulation(FES). A model of the upper arm with three pairs of antagonist muscles was used in this study. A stiffness regulation strategy was designed to cope with external load changes encountered during postural control. Force feedback and position feedback were required to form the stiffness controller. Simulation results indicated that the controller was able to maintain a limb posture, and to regulate force outputs under isometric conditions.
