In many of his creations, Hughes explores the road to the liberation and revival of national culture under the shadow of the whites’ mainstream culture. This has much in common with advocating the post-colonial theory of deconstruction of western cultural hegemony, promotion of third-world national culture and advocating multiculturalism. Both Hughes and postcolonial theories hold pluralist ideologies of different races and different cultures regardless of their size, equality, and co-existence.
