From September 1975 to May 1978, 15 male and 5 female uremic patients underwent kidney transplantation. Age 17 to 56 years old. The causes of their renal failure were 15 cases of chronic glomerulonephritis, 2 cases of chronic pyelonephritis, 1 case of renal tuberculosis, 1 case of polycystic kidney disease and 1 case of irreversible crush syndrome, 10 cases before transplantation, severe heart And failing to improve heart failure symptoms with adequate hemodialysis. The main lesson we have gained from these 20 cadaveric kidney transplantations is that the initial function of the graft kidneys is important for the consequences of the transplant kidneys. In the first 20 cases of cadaveric kidney transplantation in our group, up to January 1980, 8 patients still survived with functional nephrons, so the 2-year functional kidney survival rate was 40% better than in Japan.
