鸡血石因色红似鸡血而得名。又因产于浙江省昌化县而称昌化石(Chang-huahrite)。由于颜色美丽,材质优良独特,使人悦目,且产量稀少而更为名贵。自唐宋以来各代将相和地方官员在玉带和冠帽上不仅镶有玉石,加官进爵时还奖尝鸡血石的佩珠和冠珠。到了元朝(公元1271年),文人学士中兴起了以宝石和玉石制做印章之风,以显示高贵雅致。
Bloodstone named because of the color red like chicken blood. It is also called Chang-huahrite because of its production in Changhua County, Zhejiang Province. As the color is beautiful, the material is excellent and unique, pleasing to the eye, and the output is scarce and more expensive. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, the representatives of different generations and local officials have not only jade ornaments on the jade belt and the crown cap, but also the Peizhu and Guanzhu which have been added to the juggernaut by the judges.
