“过云楼”是江南著名的私家藏书楼,建于清朝道光年间,是苏州收藏家顾文彬的故居,已有逾150年的历史。“过云楼”藏书既精又多,集宋元善本、精写旧抄、明清佳刻、碑帖印谱等,世有“江南收藏甲天下,过云楼收藏甲江南”之称。顾氏将过云楼藏书视若珍宝,传有家训:过云楼藏画可任人评阅,而家藏善本古籍不可轻易示人。民国时期,顾鹤逸破例同意好友著名版本学家、藏书家傅增湘在楼内观书,但规定不能带纸砚抄写。傅增湘只能在每天看完书后,回家凭记忆默写书名。后来,他发表了《顾鹤逸藏书目》,“过云楼”藏书方才大白于天下。
