彝族是一个勤劳勇敢、历史悠久、富有光荣革命传统、喜歌善舞的民族,也是我国人数较多的少数民族之一。全国约有三百二十多万人,主要分布在我国西南各省(区):云南省有一百九十多万,四川省有一百多万,贵州省有三十三万,广西僮族自治区有四千多人。四川西南部大小凉山地区,是彝族最大的聚居区,有七十多万人。云南的楚雄、哀牢山和红河地区,以及贵州威宁专区,四川西昌专区,也是彝族居住比较集中的地方。此外,大都分散与兄弟民族杂居。彝族分布地区位于云贵高原西部和青藏
