INTRODUCTION The classic determination of iron by potassium dichromate volumetric method has long been widely adopted by analysts inside and outside the country for its rapid, accurate, widely adapted, easy to grasp and low cost advantages. However, mercury salts pollute the environment, and some analysts have successively studied the mercury-free method for measuring iron, such as methyl blue, silicomolybdic acid, sodium tungstate, etc. to control the reduction of end point or titanium method and so on.
