上海辞书出版社出版了一部图文并茂的大型辞书《中国名画鉴赏辞典》,16开本,精装,约208万字,名画成千,妙文数百,是由著名美学家、西方文论家、国画理论家、画家伍蠡甫教授主编,并请海内外知名度很高的学者专家王朝闻、饶宗颐、阎丽川、李铸晋、谢稚柳、唐云、王伯敏、方闻、张安治、扬仁恺等等任顾问和亲自撰稿,是敝人继责编《中国美术辞典》之后又负责编纂的一部大辞典。书上市后社会反响较大,一个月内售出五千余册,被广大读者评为93年下半年最受欢迎的十本书之一。究其因,我试从以下三点加以评介: 见仁见智的“外包装” 现在的产品(不论是物质的还是精神的)都很讲究“外包装”,这是市场经济规律的产物;但外包装要根据产品的内容而制作,它既受内容的制约,又要有自身的特性。《中国名画鉴赏辞典》的外包装,是由著名百岁老人大画家刘海粟题写的清秀苍健的八字书名和装帧大家钱君陶设计的古朴典雅的封面(包括护封)所组成的。
