The article introduces the flexible manufacturing system which was established in late 1982 by the British Carlsbad lathe factory and used for processing shaft, disk and gear parts. The system consists of 9 machine tools, linear layout, 150 pallet-type pallet, through 4 parallel, continuous operation of the drive roller conveyor belt, pallet with a binary code card, loading and unloading station with non-contact Sensors for identification, to determine the different specifications of the pallet and the workpiece installed. Eight Farnak teaching robots are used for transporting and loading workpieces between the pallet and the machine. The system uses two computers, one for controlling nine machine tools and the other for managing computers and controlling and coordinating the entire range of auxiliary devices for use in computer-aided planning.
