This study used laboratory methods to evaluate the maximum shear and tensile strength and breakage of five adhesives: Unfilled Adhesives (Bracketbond and Genie), Filler Adhesives (Unite, Excel, and Concise). The bovine 100 mandibular incisors were embedded in artificial stone and the labial surface polished so that the acrylic-enamel interface was uniform and then stored in a modified Fusyama artificial saliva. In each group, 20 acrylic cylinders having a diameter of 7 mm were bonded. The shear strength of 10 samples in each group and the tensile strength of 10 samples were measured with an Instron tester. The adhesive remaining on the cylinder was measured with a biomass digitalizer. Scanning electron microscopy was used to analyze the fracture site.
