美国学者梅维恒是当代著名的中国文学研究家和中国古典文学翻译家。其英译《庄子》开启了当代《庄子》英译的繁荣时期,带动了美国《庄子》研究的热潮。梅维恒热爱《庄子》,尤其看重《庄子》的文学价值,对庄子其人其书有深入研究。本文从梅维恒的学术背景及其对《庄子》的理解入手,通过分析梅维恒译文对人名寓意、韵文及几种典型修辞方法的处理,考察其译文对《庄子》文学色彩的传递。 American scholar Mei Weheng is a famous contemporary Chinese literature researcher and Chinese classical literary translator. Its English translation of “Zhuangzi” opened the prosperous period of the contemporary English translation of “Zhuangzi” and drove the upsurge of research on “Zhuangzi” in the United States. Mei Weiheng love “Zhuangzi”, especially valued “Zhuangzi” literary value, the book of Zhuangzi his in-depth study. This article starts from the academic background of Mei Weiheng and his understanding of “Zhuangzi”. By analyzing the translation of Mevhian’s interpretation of names, rhyme and several typical rhetorical methods, this paper examines the translation of Zhuangzi’s literary translation.
