北宋铸造夹锡钱的年代,论者皆以《文献通考·钱币考》、《宋史·食货志》等史籍所载,把其铸行年代定在崇宁二年(1103)年。近来,我为研究北宋大钱而搜集资料,于《读资治通鉴长编》卷二五六熙宁七年九月成条内发现有陕西曾于是年铸造过夹锡钱的记载:“先是,秦凤路转运司请于凤翔府斜谷置监铸折二钱。都转运使蔡延庆言:凤翔府眉县兼锡、铜铸折二钱,皆脆恶,以铸当五、当十宜可用。诏皆罢之”。李焘注云:“此据《食货志》第六卷,不得其时。”又云:“按《实录》八月戊辰,诏罢凤翔府眉县铸夹锡青铜折二钱,以钱成贾之辄碎也”。按《宋史·食货志》记摘监所铸钱为“青铜夹锡”。据《续资治通鉴长编》卷二五四所载,斜谷监置于熙宁七年六月,原欲铸折五、折十钱,但宋廷只准允铸折二钱。
