A survey of the causes of death in the population in recent years in our country shows that cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases rank the first place far outweighing cancer and infectious diseases and are similar to those in developed western countries. Some large-scale surveys conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and European and American countries suggest that hyperlipidemia is one of the major risk factors leading to the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. China conducted epidemiological surveys in 16 provinces and municipalities for 10 years (1983 to 1993) in accordance with internationally accepted methods and conducted long-term monitoring on the incidence, death and risk factors of coronary heart disease and stroke in more than 5 million people. The results showed that coronary heart disease, stroke morbidity and mortality and serum total cholesterol levels, blood triglyceride levels were significantly positive correlation. Further studies have shown that excessive blood lipids promote atherosclerosis, leading to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
