About two years after the peaceful liberation of Tibet, the New York Times’s coverage of China’s Tibet mainly includes the process of the peaceful liberation of Tibet, the activities of the separatist forces in Tibet, how the United Nations intervenes in Tibet affairs, the U.S. changes in Tibet policy and India, the attitude of the Soviet Union and so on. To carefully sort out the New York Times’s coverage of Tibet in China, we can see that the Cold War mentality and the geopolitical importance of Tibet are important considerations for the U.S. concern over the development of Tibet. The choice of the mainstream media coverage of Tibet in this period underscores the political orientation of the U.S. government and is full of the Cold War. The reports reflect the historic exchange of U.S. Tibet policy during the Cold War era and the specific purpose of U.S. action toward India’s policy, which is a serious confusion International audio-visual.
