There are two intermetallic compounds Mg 2 Ni (with hexagonal structure) and MgNi 2 (C36 Laves phase structure), in which Mg 2 Ni alloy can absorb up to 36% by mass of hydrogen to form Mg 2 NiH 4 (A hydride phase having a cubic form of CaF2 (β ’phase) at a high temperature and a monoclinic (β-phase) at a low temperature, and this hydride
