In recent years, the neglect of register in college English writing teaching often causes mistakes in students’ use of English. The problems of undergraduates in private universities are especially obvious . This article mainly expounds how to apply register theory to the teaching of college English writing in private universities and the guiding significance of Register Theory in improving students’ writing skills.
