在毛主席的破除迷信、解放思想的号召下,在全国各項工作大跃进当中全国数学界在近半年多以来在数学的很多方面,在科学研究与教学方面,作出了大量的成績,使得数学工作不再仅是少数专家的事,而成为广大羣众——劳动人民羣众与青年所能接受和掌握的工具,这是一件大喜事,在我国数学史上值得大书特书的。我們今后也还应当不断地破除迷信,解放思想,在数学工作中作出更巨大的成績来。值得注意的,乃是有极少数人对于破除迷信、解放思想的真正涵义不能正确理解。他們以为既然要破除迷信,那末对于一切前人所发現的真理都要怀疑;他們又以为既然要解放思想,就可以漫无边际地、随心所欲地脫离实际地去玄想。最近研究“三等分角”問題的人又屡次出現,他們就是以曲解“破除迷信、解放思想”来
Under Chairman Mao’s call for breaking the superstition and emancipating the mind, the nation’s mathematics circles have made great achievements in many areas of mathematics in scientific research and teaching in the past half year. Work is no longer just a matter of a few experts. It has become a tool that the masses of the people and the working people can accept and grasp. This is a great joy. It is worthwhile to write a special book in the history of mathematics in our country. In the future, we should continue to break the superstition, emancipate the mind, and make greater achievements in mathematics work. It is worth noting that there are very few people who cannot correctly understand the true meaning of breaking away from superstition and emancipating the mind. They thought that if they were to break the superstition, they would doubt all the truths discovered by the predecessors. They thought that if we were to emancipate our minds, we would be able to deviate from the actual situation with indifference and freedom. People who have recently studied the issue of the “trivial angle” have appeared again and again. They are trying to misunderstand superstitions and emancipate the mind.
