At present, the United States may be the world’s largest footwear retail market in terms of sales, with sales of about 60 billion U.S. dollars. China consumes at least 3 billion pairs of shoes each year, which is the world’s largest footwear consumer market based on quantity. There are similarities between these two big footwear consumer markets, with some notable differences. Similarities between the two major markets in China and the United States: (1) large retailers and brands control the market; (2) a high share of sports shoes; (3) strong fashion and women’s fashion shoes.
