《阿冯利村的安妮》(Anne of Avonlea,1909)是“安妮系列”的第二部,全书共30章,合中文16万字左右。这里选译的是书中前3章,通过卖牛一件趣事着重介绍安妮的性格,可作为独立的短篇小说读。她心直嘴快、富于幻想、做事鲁莽但勇于承认错误并努为改正,她热情、乐于助人,尤其关心当地的公共事业。全书整个故事写的是安妮当小学教师一年的生活。她中专毕业后,因收养她的玛丽拉·卡思伯特小姐患眼疾,且哥哥死后孤身一人独居,安妮便放弃上大学的机会,回阿冯利村去照顾玛丽拉,同时到母校任教。那时安妮还不满17岁,但她已懂得启蒙教师的重要性。她虽然一开始没有经验遭到一些挫折,不过,由于她循循善诱,很快就博得学生的好感,连几个调皮的也很佩服她。保罗·欧文就是他们当中的一个。他有丰富的想象力,是安妮发现的“天才”。保罗和作者蒙哥马利一样,幼年丧母,父亲常年在外经商,他寄养在老祖母家。读者不难发现他实际上是作者童年的化身。最后,保罗无意间促成父亲与年轻时分手的旧情人团圆。当然安妮也间接起了作用。保罗此后有了爱他的继母,有了温暖的家。玛丽拉的眼疾好转,她安排经济困难的林德太太到她家住,帮她料理家务。这样,安妮便辞去教职,与好友吉尔伯特结伴去上大学了。本文根据美国矮脚鸡书局1984年重印本译出。
Anne of Avonlea (1909) is the second part of Annie’s series, which consists of 30 chapters, about 160,000 words in Chinese. Selected here is the first three chapters of the book, focusing on Annie’s character by selling a funny story, can be read as an independent short story. She is straightforward, imaginative, reckless but brave enough to admit mistakes and make corrections, and she is passionate and helpful, with particular regard to local public utilities. The whole story of the book is written by Anne as a primary school teacher a year of life. After graduating from her secondary school, she suffered eye problems because she was adopted by her, and her brother died alone. Annie gave up her chance to go to college and went back to Villa d’Avignon to take care of Marilla while visiting her alma mater Teach. At the time, Anne was under 17, but she understood the importance of enlightening teachers. Although she initially suffered some setbacks with no experience, she soon won the favor of her due to her persuasion. Even naughty admire her. Paul Owen is one of them. He has a wealth of imagination, Anne found “genius ”. Like Paul Montgomery, Paul, a young mother, lost his father’s business year round, and he fostered an old grandmother’s home. Readers can easily find that he is actually the embodiment of the author’s childhood. Finally, Paul inadvertently contributed to the reunion of his father with the old lover who broke up young. Of course, Anne also indirectly played a role. Since then Paul has loved his stepmother, with a warm home. Marilla’s eye condition improved, she arranged for Mrs. Lindh, economically difficult, to come to her home and help her with housework.
