本文从苏轼通判杭州的处境和心态出发,以作品本体为立足点,对其通判杭州时的词作做了深入研究,认为其创作遵循了“出新意于法度之中”、“自成一家”的文艺思想,且大多是“感事”而作。他早岁初试词笔时就已摆脱了“词为艳科”的羁绊;其后在朝为官辍笔,是“不为”而非“不能”;通判杭州后,其政治角色发生转换,词作渐多,而格调高雅,感情深沉,以此作为探寻生路的一种精神方式。故,把东坡通判杭州之际的词作定位在“发期”,或谓其词的开拓创新这时仅仅是在萌动中的提法是不合适的。
