Mulan is a well-known figure in China. In 1999, Hollywood in the United States created a cartoon “Mulan” as its prototype. However, the animated cartoon is far removed from the original one. Obviously, this adaptation has its own creative intention and experience. Perhaps we will have a greater harvest if we analyze it from the perspective of artistic psychology. The movie unearths Mulan’s desire for self-actualization, rebellion against male order and the construction of a lofty image. The author believes that these changes are based not on the cultural soil of China but on the creation of Western literary or American culture, This kind of creation reflects the artistic psychology of western literary creators - the influence of free culture and consumer culture.
