Jiangnan Canal connecting the Yangtze River and the Qiantang River two major water systems. In 495 BC, Wu Wangfu excavated Suzhou via Wuxi to Changzhou, and was the embryonic form of the southern canal. In 610, the Emperor of Sui Dynasty re-dredged and broadened the ancient canal to the south of the Yangtze River. Jiangnan Canal runs north and south of Wujiang River, under the moisture in the canal water, people live frugally, six domestic animals thriving, rice with rice, live and work in peace.
