The information cycleof H.T.Odum is a systems model for understanding the maintenance and evolution of information of any kind.It applies to the genetic information in DNA.But in recent years it has been extended to cultural information.The result is that culture is best understood as nested scales of distinctly different forms of information production and maintenance.Each can be distinguished by its unique emergy inputs,cycle times,spatial expanse,carrier,and by fidelity.This paper will present some examples of culture in information cycles,including the production and maintenance of money and technologies.
