“江南春”的题材可远溯自唐代的顾况、宋代的惠崇。元代倪瓒作《江南春》词,吴中人士和之者极多,一时蔚为风尚。文徵明的“江南春”气象春明景和,士人优游于“理想国”中,这景象当作为一个“模式”(Pattern)来讨论。山水画史上“理想国”的出现,则以“桃花源”为主题,视觉要素为山洞、持桨渔人和田家延客。元朝赵孟(?)的家乡吴兴霅溪正是桃花源的化身,衍生出“花溪渔隐”的题材。吴门文人生活于太湖地区,江南春景则代替了“花溪渔隐”。

Wu Men scholar living in the Taihu Lake region, Jiangnan Spring King instead of “Huaxi fishing hidden.”
